Mind, Body, Spirit

We all have heard the words 'mind', 'body' and 'spirit' used in conjunction with each other. They are intrinsically linked. They combine to work as an holistic system for us. If one is out of balance then it can impact on the others. It is important for our health and peace of mind to ensure we do what we can to nurture each aspect to improve. Here are a few tips to help you on the way.

Mind
We have our mind (which controls so much of our lives), as well as our sub-conscious mind. We need to utilise both and get them working in tandem.

Sub-Conscious Mind
Our sub-conscious mind contains our base thoughts and beliefs. It guides us, if we listen. However, we can train it to work in the way we want.

Goals/Aims
Focus on what you do want. Think of all you want to have, be and do in life. Write them all down. Write the list as though you are already there. Read the list three times per day each and every day. Ideally read them out loud. Say them with conviction.
Our sub-conscious cannot tell the difference between something we have and something we want. By focusing on what we want we trick our sub-conscious mind into creating our reality.

Write Them Daily
If you are very clear with your goals then write them daily. The process of writing reinforces them into your mind. Take a fresh page each day and write them out. Be clear before you start though. You need them to be worded the same each time.

Affirmations
Affirmations are statements that you affirm out loud. Speak your goals or aims with intent out loud daily. This again ignites your sub-conscious with what you want out of life.

Meditation
Regular meditation cannot have such positive benefits on your health, mind and spirit. Find a comfortable spot. Switch your phone off. Close your eyes. Breathe in deeply, slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth. When you have started to feel peace then visualise what you want out of life. Picture in your mind as though you have it. Imagine the feelings, sounds, smells and make it real. When you are ready slowly bring your awareness back into your body. When you are fully back in your body then open your eyes. Stay like that for a few minutes.

Body
We all know what we should be doing. How many of us do it though? We should look after our bodies. For our health but also our quality of life. Get professional help if you you feel you need it.

Exercise
If you have not exercised for a while then consult your doctor first before beginning any regime. Find something you are likely to enjoy and stick to. Start slow and build up.

Yoga/Pilates
These offer gentle stretching exercises that will energise you and offer peace. They can also introduce meditation and there are fat burning styles as well.

Cardiovascular
These disciplines (such as walking, running, swimming, exercise bike) offer a fat burning option. As well as increasing your stamina and endurance. As you progress you can increase the intensity or the time spent exercising.

Resistance
Resistance exercise includes weights, weight machines, kettlebells, etc. The aim is to build muscle. To get really muscular one must constantly increase the resistance. A little resistance will not grow huge muscles. It will get our heart beating and breathing. Resistance work coupled with cardiovascular will give you variety and an all round workout.

Spirit
Our spirit is something we tend to ignore. We let it fend for itself. We need to nurture it also.

Peace/Stillness
Life can be chaotic, what with work, family, friends and generally living. It is important we make time for us. Selfish is a word associated with negativity. However, we need to recharge our batteries or just rest at times. So make time for you. Even if it is 5-10 minutes per day or just sitting with no noise or stimulation. Take time for you. It is important that you are at peace at times.

Nature
Spend time in nature. Go for a walk in the woods. Sit in the garden and listen to the birds. Go to the beach and listen to the waves. Go for a drive in the country, find somewhere to stop and just walk.

Holiday/Break
Take a weekend away. Book a holiday. Go and take time to get away from everything. Relax. Chill. Just be.

Spend Time With Family/Friends
Make time to be with people you love. That heart felt connection to those in your life can be so enriching and joyful.

Help Others
Helping others can bring such satisfaction into our lives. So try volunteering at a charity. Or helping neighbours who may need some assistance. Give a friend in need a lift. Do something kind for someone else. Your spirit will feel lighter by doing so.

Forgive
If you feel wronged by someone why not forgive them. Whilst you hold on to the hate or anger you get affected by it. Does that have any impact on the other person? No. So why not let it go, That does not mean go running back to them. It just means what you are holding on to is only affecting you. Whatever they have done is because of who they are not because of who you are. Forgive them and move on. You will feel so much better.
